This project presents a comprehensive and innovative engineering system for the remediation of desert oil lakes resulting from petroleum production operations and other sources. These lakes contain a complex mixture of crude oil, produced water, oil sludge, mineral deposits, and naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM). Given the significant risks these sites pose to personnel — including radiation exposure, toxic gases, and the risk of submersion in oil sediments — the system has been designed to operate entirely remotely (100% Remote Operation), eliminating the need for any personnel to enter the hazard zone. The system integrates land-based and aquatic robots, drones, and intelligent automation systems to form a self-operating platform capable of executing all phases of surveying, treatment, and monitoring in a safe and efficient manner.

Radiation Treatment and Catalytic Materials

To address sites containing radioactive contamination, the project incorporates an autonomous marine robotic platform — a robot operating on a high-stability frame equipped with an absorption and filtration unit based on high-efficiency catalytic materials for capturing radioactive isotopes, along with Gamma and Beta radiation sensors linked to an intelligent software system that generates real-time radiation maps and analyzes contamination sources instantaneously
